Welcome to the people’s ribs!

When I began throwing six years ago, I had no idea what it would turn into. I’d spent 40 years as a carpenter and contractor. And always had a love of woodworking and prided myself on possessing a high level of craftsmanship. Then my wife gave me the gift of a pottery class, and I was hooked. I’ve retired from carpentry, and now I have the gift of combining two things I love, ceramic art and woodworking. I continue to test the boundaries of my throwing and decorating skills, while working on new ideas for tools in my shop as well.

My company name and logo are inspired by my experience visiting a Berber tribe in Morocco, spending a night with my wife in an encampment in the Sahara Desert. I connected with their culture on some level. My logo is their pictogram for The People, which is what they call themselves. It serves me as a reminder of them and to a broader sense of my connectedness to the world.

In addition, while I AM in business for myself, I have a strong social conscience, and believe in service and charity. 10% of my Gross Proceeds are given to charity. Currently, that amounts to 5% to Habitat for Humanity, and 5% to Meals on Wheels, as I feel those contribute directly to improved quality of life for those in need. As my business grows, I hope to be able to add other groups as my recipients.
